Casa Aljibe
Since its opening in December 2020, Casa Aljibe has welcomed more than 30 young migrants experiencing homelessness. Before their admission, the people responsible for the project carefully evaluate the vulnerability of the candidates in order to host those in the most difficult situations.
Welcoming someone to Casa Aljibe means more than simply providing shelter and food. Volunteers accompany each young person on their personal journey: learning Spanish, vocational training, and handling administrative and legal procedures. The goal is to help them achieve independence and autonomy so that they can integrate fully and become active members of society.
During their stay, which usually lasts between 6 months and 2 years depending on circumstances, we take care—together with the Amani platform—of their living expenses, documentation management (registration, passport, residence permit, academic recognition, etc.), and professional and academic training.
The young residents accept basic rules of coexistence and take responsibility for the care of the house: cleaning, preparing meals, and maintaining good relations with neighbors.
Over these more than 6 years, Casa Aljibe has hosted 34 young men from different countries: Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Palestine, Morocco, Gambia and Mali.
This year, Youssef, Moad and Said have left the house after obtaining legal documentation and employment, making room for Ibrahima and Soulaiman.
