The data protection law in Europe requires a "legal basis" to collect and retain personal information from citizens or residents of the European Economic Area.
Our legal bases include:
ulfilment of the contract we have with you: In certain circumstances, we need your personal data to fulfil our contractual obligation to deliver the services, to allow creators to establish and show their projects, and to allow sponsors to find you and make promises to you.
Legal compliance: sometimes the law says we need to collect and use your data. For example, tax laws require that we keep records of promises and payments made through our Services.
Legitimate interests - This is a technical term in data protection law that essentially means that we have a good and just reason to use your data and we do so in a way that does not harm your interests and rights. Sometimes, we require your data to pursue our legitimate interests in a way that is reasonably expected as part of running our business and that it does not materially affect your rights, freedom, or interests.
For example, we use identity, device, and location information to prevent fraud and abuse and to keep our Services secure. We may also send you promotional communications about our Services, subject to your right to control whether we do so.
We analyse how users interact with our website so that we can better understand which design elements work well and which do not. This allows us to improve and develop the quality of the experience that we offer to all our users.
Information that is shared publicly
When you create an account, we create a basic profile page for you on IslamicFundraising, containing your username, the date the account was created, and a list of projects that you have supported or launched. By default, your profile is private and you can choose to make it public in your account settings. Your username appears with the comments you post and messages you send on IslamicFundraising, and if your profile is set to public, people can click on your username to view it. If you make your profile public, others will see the following:
If you want to have a public profile, but don't want others to see your name or profile picture in the community tab of a project, you can choose a fictitious picture or account name (for example, Ironman).
You can modify or delete certain information associated with your account (such as your username, profile picture, bio, and location) from your account settings, and you can change your privacy settings if you want your profile to be private or adjust the default settings.
Creators are also asked to verify their identities before launching a project. Once this is done, the creator's verified name will be publicly displayed in their account profile and in the projects they start.
The following information will not be publicly displayed or disclosed to other users:
We may share your information with certain trusted third-party services to help us provide, improve, promote or protect the IslamicFundraising Services (such as when we partner with payment processors or use services that help us to manage our advertisements on other sites). When we share data with third party services that support our project, we require that they use your information only for the purposes we have authorized, and that they protect your personal information to at least the same standards as we do.
When you support a project, the project creator will know your username, the amount you've donated, and the rewards you've selected. Campaign creators never receive credit card details or other payment information from supporters.
If a project you have supported is successfully funded, the campaign creator will receive the email address associated with your IslamicFundraising account.
Campaign creators must keep sponsor information confidential, except when strictly necessary to communicate directly with sponsors and fulfil rewards. Creators should not request personal information that is not necessary to provide your reward, and they should never request sensitive personal information such as your social security number or payment information. Contact us at info@islamicfundraising.com if you receive a request for information that seems inappropriate or excessive.
Collaborators are third parties that campaign creators work with to help them manage and promote the project. These collaborators may be able to access information available to creators (including sponsor names, email addresses, donation amounts, reward selections, messages, and survey responses), and they should treat sponsors' personal information with the same care.
Campaign creators and their collaborators can also receive routine traffic analysis on their project pages.
