Yassine, an 11-year-old boy, has been followed since he was 4 years old due to Fanconi anemia diagnosed within the framework of a family investigation carried out following the death of two older siblings from the same condition. The examination of the child shows a typical facies and the biological evaluation reveals pancitopenia which tends to worsen progressively. The karyotype performed in 2017 at the University Hospital of Rabat confirmed the disease, as did the DEB test carried out in Turkey (September 2019), which showed a high rate of chromosomal breaks and platelet concentrates in case of hemorrhagic syndrome.

Seeking Help

In view of the worsening of his clinical condition, a hematopoietic stem cell allograft is indicated, a procedure that requires treatment abroad (Barcelona) due to the absence of an identical donor within the family and the impossibility of performing an allograft with a non-related donor in Morocco.
