Dear brothers and sisters,

From the Hola Gaza Association, we want to share with you the story of Dr. Refaat Alathamna, a brave and dedicated doctor currently facing an extremely difficult situation with his family in Gaza.

Dr. Alathamna, a specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care, has been tirelessly working since October 7, 2023, at the European Hospital in Gaza, without receiving a salary and under constant threats to his safety. Meanwhile, his wife and five children (ages 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12) are surviving in very precarious conditions in a shelter in Khan Younis.

Originally born in Gaza and holding Bolivian nationality, Dr. Alathamna lived and studied in Bolivia, where he learned Spanish. Now, trapped in Gaza due to the border closures, he is facing a devastating reality: they have lost everything. Their home, belongings, and many relatives and friends are no longer with them.

The family urgently needs to raise $30,000 to cover evacuation and transportation costs out of Gaza as soon as the borders reopen. Additionally, they are facing a critical economic situation, with exorbitant prices for basic goods and a 30% commission to receive cash aid.

Current Prices in Gaza:

  • 12 eggs: €32
  • 1 kilogram of ground beef: €41
  • 1 kilogram of sugar: €28
  • 1 kilogram of tomatoes: €12

At Hola Gaza, we believe that together we can make a difference. We invite everyone to contribute with donations or zakat to help Dr. Alathamna and his family survive this difficult situation and give them a new opportunity outside Gaza.

How to Help:

Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. Let us follow the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Charity does not decrease wealth."

May Allah reward your generosity and bless you abundantly.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Hola Gaza Team
